DetailPage Bug Reporter (Chrome extension)
Privacy Policy
This extension is an internal tool, installed only by DetailPage employees and contractors, used to file bug reports about DetailPage's own internal web applications into our internal tracker (Northstar).
Who can use it
Sign-in is restricted to @detailpage.com Google Workspace accounts. No report can be submitted without signing in.
What it collects, and when
- Your identity. Your @detailpage.com email address (and display name, if set on your Google account), obtained via Google sign-in, to attribute reports to the person who filed them.
- A short-lived sign-in token. After you sign in, a token is cached in your browser for about an hour so you aren't asked to sign in again on every report.
- A rolling diagnostic buffer. While a DetailPage app is open in a tab, the extension keeps a short, bounded, in-memory buffer of recent console messages and network request metadata (method, URL, status code, timing — never request or response bodies) for that tab. This buffer is discarded when the tab closes and is never transmitted anywhere unless you choose to file a report.
- The page you're reporting on. The URL of the page you're currently viewing when you file a report, so the issue can be reproduced.
- A screenshot you take. A screenshot of the page region you select, plus any annotations you draw on it, when you choose to file a report.
- What you type into the report form — description, your name, client name, platform, and any files or Loom links you choose to attach.
What it's used for
Solely to file and triage internal bug reports. Reports are stored in Northstar and visible to DetailPage engineering staff working on the reported issue. This data is never sold, shared with third parties, or used for advertising.
Retention
A report and its attachments are kept for as long as the bug report itself is retained in Northstar.
